| The ACMG Training and Certification Program is an series of courses
and
exams designed to develop the skills and knowledge required to be a professional
guide
or instructor.
ACMG guides/instructors are trained, examined and certified by
an independent, internationally recognized body to the highest standard in
Canada. There is no equivalent. The program is offered by the University College
of the Cariboo (UCC) in
partnership with the ACMG.
In addition, a Mountain Guide Diploma program is under development which will
include the Mountain Guide certificate combined with additional theory and
activity courses. |

| The trainers and examiners are highly experienced guides and instructors; specifically selected for there high personal and instructal skills, and their ability to fairly assess the skills of aspirants. |

Program
Discription |
Certification Programs:
- Mountain Guide
The Mountain Guide Program consists of three (3) certification streams; Alpine
Guide, Ski Guide, and Rock Guide. Completion of the program grants you
the prestigious Mountain Guide Certification, which qualifies ACMG members
for
recognition throughout the world in IFMGA member countries.
- Hiking Guide
There are two levels in the Hiking Guide Program: Day Hiking Guide and
Backpacking Guide. Day Hiking Guides lead clients on established trails,
especially in
National and Provincial Parks. Backpacking Guides undertake multi-day wilderness
trips in forested and alpine terrain that does not require technical climbing.
- Climbing Gym Instructor
Climbing Gym Instructors teach climbing on artificial structures. Level
1 teach introductory sessions and basic top-roping courses. Level 2 teach
and coach
leading courses and intermediate movement skills. Level 3 work on advanced
movement courses, develop courses, and supervise larger climbing programs. |
