Courses and Trips
Squamish Rock Guides offer a variety of special courses throughout the season. They may be regular courses at a reduced cost or unique courses designed for a specific occasion. Registration is the same as for our regular programs. Get in touch for more information.
Rock Programs
The Squamish Chief and the surrounding cliffs are home to some of the best granite climbing in Canada. Squamish Rock Guides has worked hard to develop a full line of programs to meet almost any climber's goals.

Rock Courses Rock climbing is an exhilarating sport that takes much knowledge to participate in safely. Learning from a professional instructor is the shortest route to this goal. When you take a course from a guide, you can be assured you are getting the most current knowledge available in a systematic teaching progression. Squamish Rock Guides offers a complete line of instructional courses for climbers at all levels. Don't see what you're looking for? Try private instruction to set up a course of your own. Alpine Programs
The cliffs of Squamish are surrounded by spectacular mountains with fantastic alpine climbing. The Tantalus Range, just across the Squamish valley, has magnificent ice-crusted peaks with classic mixed snow and ice routes.


Mountain Climbing Long Weekend - Join us for an introduction to the world of alpine climbing. A short, but comprehensive three day course that culminates in an ascent of one of our local peaks. Dates: (any dates available on request with a minimum of 2 people) Content: Skills and techniques for climbing on snow and ice, glacier travel, and crevasse rescue. Destination: Joffre group and/or Blackcomb Mountain. Prerequisites: Good overall fitness. Cost: $525.00 (Can) + GST (ropes, hardware and helmets - does not include lift tickets, plastic boots, crampons, or ice axes - call for rental information) *Private Alpine Instruction - We can set up private alpine instruction to suit your goals and dates. Winter Ice Programs
Ice climbing is an exhilarating sport that takes much knowledge to participate in safely. Learning from a professional instructor is the shortest route to this goal.

Introduction to Ice Climbing - Join Squamish Rock Guides this winter for a comprehensive two-day course that covers the fundamentals of basic ice climbing. Topics include ice-axe and crampon technique, hazard assessment and safety, movement skills, top-rope anchor construction and belay techniques. After completing the course, students will be able to go out and top-rope single pitch ice climbs with a partner of equal or greater ability. Discover what makes this exhilarating winter activity the perfect compliment to summer rock climbing. Length: 2 days Cost: $275.00 + GST Ratio: 4:1 max, 2:1 min Prerequisites: none Dates: announced later this season

Featured Course
Introduction to Rock Climbing
A fun two day course for those that have never climbed before or just need to brush up on their basic skills. Topics covered are cliff safety, equipment, knots, belaying, setting top-rope anchors, climbing technique and rappelling. At the end of the weekend, participants will have the skills to safely go top-rope climbing on their own. A great introduction to the sport.
